Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Production Technician | Painter to join a skilled metal finishing team in Blaine, MN. This position is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing metal components using powder coating, spray painting, and other paint application techniques.
The ideal candidate has at least one year of industrial painting, powder coating, auto body painting, or similar paint application experience. This position requires strong attention to detail, a stable work history, and the ability to consistently follow established quality and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare metal surfaces for painting, including cleaning, masking, and inspecting components.
- Mix and prepare paints, coatings, and finishing materials according to job specifications.
- Apply paint and coatings evenly to metal components using spray guns and related equipment.
- Operate paint guns, spray booths, and other finishing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow work orders, specifications, and established paint application procedures.
- Inspect finished components for proper coverage, consistency, color, and overall quality.
- Identify and correct paint defects or quality concerns as appropriate.
- Maintain paint equipment, spray guns, tools, and work areas in clean working condition.
- Properly handle and store paints, coatings, and related materials.
- Follow all safety procedures, including requirements for respirators and other PPE.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to support production and quality goals.
- Perform additional production and finishing responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of painting or paint application experience required.
- Experience may include powder coating, industrial painting, auto body painting, spray painting, or similar coating processes.
- Stable work history required.
- Must be able to read, write, use a computer, and communicate clearly in English.
- Experience operating paint guns or spray equipment preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality finishes.
- Ability to follow written work instructions, specifications, and established procedures.
- Comfortable wearing a respirator and other required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Dependable and punctual with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- Metal finishing and production environment with exposure to paint, coatings, powders, fumes, and moderate noise levels.
- Regular use of paint application equipment, spray booths, and production tools.
- Appropriate PPE is required, including a respirator, gloves, and protective clothing as applicable.
- Must consistently follow established safety procedures for handling and applying paints and coatings.
